Laundry Manager

Department: Laundry
Location: Pacific Beach, WA

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Laundry Manager to oversee the daily operations of our laundry department. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for managing staff, ensuring the quality and efficiency of laundry processing, maintaining equipment, and upholding the cleanliness and organization of the laundry facility. The ideal candidate will combine operational expertise with a passion for service and strong team leadership.

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the laundry facility, ensuring efficient workflow and equipment utilization.
  • Ensure cleanliness, organization, and proper maintenance of the facility.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repairs for laundry machinery.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise laundry staff including attendants and machine operators.
  • Develop work schedules to meet operational needs.
  • Conduct ongoing training and performance evaluations.
  • Operate laundry machinery in accordance with safety and operational guidelines.
  • Sort, wash, dry, fold, and pack laundry items to company standards.
  • Inspect items for stains or damage; apply treatments or report as necessary.
  • Implement and monitor quality control measures for all laundry output.
  • Conduct routine inspections to maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels of linen, uniforms, chemicals, and supplies.
  • Report shortages and coordinate with procurement to ensure supply continuity.
  • Assist with departmental budgeting and monitor labor, supply, and maintenance costs.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Promote and enforce proper use of PPE and adherence to cleaning chemical guidelines.
  • Liaise with departments such as Housekeeping and Food & Beverage to ensure timely laundry service delivery.
  • Address internal laundry-related concerns or inquiries.
  • Maintain accurate records of laundry volumes, inventory, equipment logs, and incident reports.
  • Generate performance reports as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience in a laundry setting is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to operate laundry machinery safely.
  • Knowledge and understanding of residential and commercial cleaning products, practices, and safety standards.
  • Ability to maintain thorough and accurate daily documentation of linens, orders, chemicals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent level of work and educational experience.
  • Experience in hospitality, housekeeping, service industry or similar experience
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in supervising and motivating teams.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish (written and verbal) is preferred.
  • All candidates must pass a background check prior to employment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work around moving equipment/machines.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy loads, often up to 50 pounds, such as bags of laundry, detergent containers, and linens.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, often for the duration of the work shift.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching to load and unload laundry machines, sort items, and perform cleaning tasks.
  • Ability to push and pull laundry carts and bins, sometimes over long distances within the facility.
  • Performing repetitive tasks such as folding, sorting, and handling laundry items throughout the shift.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate laundry machinery, fold items neatly, and handle small objects.
  • Occasionally climbing ladders or steps to access storage areas or equipment.
  • Working in environments with varying temperatures, humidity levels, and exposure to cleaning chemicals and detergents.

Hourly Rate: $20-$24 per hour
