About Seabrook
Seabrook is a vibrant, growing coastal town on the Washington coast. Our corporate Accounting & Finance department oversees the financial health of the entire town's operations, from real estate and retail to community management. Within this ecosystem, Seabrook Hospitality is the engine that drives our guest experience, managing a robust portfolio of luxury vacation rentals, community amenities, and guest services.

Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Full-Time Junior Staff Accountant to join our central Accounting team. While you will be integrated into the general accounting department, your primary focus and portfolio will be managing the books for the Seabrook Hospitality entity. In this role, you will be responsible for standard accounting duties, including daily reconciliations and month-end closes, while also serving as a strategic financial partner. You will work directly with hospitality department heads to manage budgets, analyze spending, and proactively identify opportunities to reduce operating costs without compromising the guest experience.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Bookkeeping

  • Manage the daily financial operations and full-cycle accounting process with a primary focus on the Seabrook Hospitality entity.
  • Execute accurate and timely weekly payroll processing for the Seabrook Hospitality entity, including the reconciliation of hourly wages, tips, commissions, and salary allocations, ensuring seamless integration with the general ledger.
  • Maintain the General Ledger, reviewing and posting daily journal entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Perform comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations (including bank accounts, credit cards, merchant processors, and intercompany accounts).
  • Play a key role in the general accounting team's month-end and year-end financial close processes, ensuring strict adherence to deadlines and GAAP standards.
  • Prepare, review, and distribute accurate financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) specific to hospitality operations.

Budgeting & Cost Reduction

  • Partner directly with hospitality department heads (e.g., Housekeeping, Maintenance, Guest Services) to develop, manage, and monitor annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
  • Conduct regular financial reviews with department leaders to analyze budget-to-actual variances and provide actionable, data-driven insights.
  • Spearhead cost-reduction initiatives by analyzing operational expenditures, identifying inefficiencies, and assisting in vendor negotiations where appropriate.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to the hospitality industry to help departments optimize their labor, overhead, and material costs.

Compliance & Process Improvement

  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal tax regulations and filings (including lodging, B&O, and sales taxes).
  • Collaborate with the broader accounting team to continuously evaluate and improve internal controls, systems, and procedures to increase efficiency across the department.
  • Assist with external audits and coordinate the provision of necessary documentation.

Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience:

  • 1-3 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Prior experience in the hospitality, property management, or real estate industry is highly preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, etc.).
  • Strong experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage) and an aptitude for learning property management/reservation software.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly explain financial concepts to non-financial department heads.
  • A highly analytical mindset with a natural knack for problem-solving and finding cost-saving opportunities.
  • Strong organizational skills, a team-player mentality, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

What We Offer

  • Competitive base salary and performance-based bonus potential.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match.
  • Paid time off (PTO) and paid company holidays.
  • Discounts on Seabrook vacation rentals and local retail/dining.

Seabrook is an equal opportunity employer, committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace. We encourage candidates of all backgrounds to apply.
